Emily (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, community-engagement practitioner, and educator residing in Sonoma County, California (although she is a proud East Coast native). She obtained her BA in Film and Media Arts from Temple University in Philadelphia and a MA (with a focus on Creative Writing) from Sonoma State University in California where she is currently an English Professor. She also has served as the Writing Center’s Faculty Director at the Learning and Academic Resource Center where she was a scholarly contributor to the International Writer Centers Association. Emily is an active Community Engagement Facilitator, and a current recipient of the 2022-2023 Educational Enhancement Award to continue developing her projects. Emily is looking forward to bringing her most recent collaborative installation project titled ReVisibilty to The New Frame this coming November.
Important facets of her personal history that have shaped how she views the world include her Jewish heritage, her survival from addiction and identity as a “recovering” person of over 22 years, her embodiment of sex-positivity and pansexuality, her love of physicality, and her roles as a proud parent and partner. She has a wholehearted commitment to a life focused on altruistic citizenship and evolving towards being the best human she can be. Also, she has a pretty great sense of humor.
